Journey Now Policies
This page explains how counselling works at Journey Now, your rights as a client, and the professional standards that guide this practice.
My goal is to provide a space that is safe, respectful, and transparent so that you can focus on your well-being.
This policy is intended to support a clear, respectful, and ethically grounded therapeutic relationship. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask at any time.
1. Confidentiality
Your privacy is central to counselling at Journey Now. Everything you share is treated as strictly confidential, with a few exceptions:

If there is a clear and serious risk of harm to yourself or others.

If disclosure is required by law (for example, a court order or child protection matter).

When the counsellor seeks professional supervision to ensure quality of care (your identity remains protected).
Whenever possible, you will be informed before any information is shared.
2. Session Details

3. Cancellations and Missed Sessions

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed sessions without notice, may be charged the full session fee, except in emergencies.

If your counsellor at Journey Now must cancel, you will receive as much notice as possible.
4. Late Arrivals

If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time to respect the next client. The full session fee will apply.
5. Crisis and Emergency Support

Counselling sessions at Journey Now are not a crisis or emergency service.

If you are in immediate danger or require urgent support, please contact your local emergency services or a 24-hour helpline in your area.
6. Record Keeping

Brief session notes are kept to support your care at Journey Now.

You have the right to request access to your records, within legal and ethical limits.

Records are generally retained for 10 years and then securely destroyed.
7. Professional Boundaries

Your relationship with your counsellor is professional and therapeutic.

Communication outside of sessions is limited to scheduling or administrative matters.

To maintain clear boundaries and protect your privacy, your counsellor will not engage in personal, social, or financial relationships with clients.
8. Online and Telephone Sessions
For online or phone sessions at Journey Now:

Choose a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable.

Ensure a stable internet or phone connection.

Sessions are conducted using secure, encrypted platforms to protect confidentiality.

Recording of sessions is not permitted without prior written consent.
9. Counsellor Credentials and Ethics
